ChatGPT for recruitment agencies
How can recruiters format CVs into the agency template with AI?
The recruiter pastes or uploads the candidate’s CV with your agency template and the client’s rules. ChatGPT moves the content into your template, removes the details your agency does not send to clients, such as personal contact details or a photo, and keeps the candidate’s own wording for experience and qualifications. It lists what it could not place, dates that do not add up and requirements from the brief the CV does not show. It does not add skills. The recruiter compares the draft with the original before anything goes to a client.
Why formatting takes so long
Every candidate sends a different layout: two-column designs, tables, scanned PDFs, a photo at the top and five pages of duties. Recruiters retype it into the agency format, remove contact details so the client comes through the agency, and try to keep it consistent across a shortlist. Done by hand, that is often the slowest part of a submission. A formatting Skill does the moving and tidying, then tells the recruiter exactly what needs a decision.
What changes and what stays
Swipe to read every column, or focus the table and use the arrow keys.
| CV element | Template treatment | Recruiter checks |
|---|---|---|
| Name, phone, email, address | Removed or replaced with your agency contact, as your template says | Nothing that identifies how to reach the candidate is left in |
| Photo, date of birth, marital status | Left out unless your agency’s rules and the role require them | Your agency policy and the client’s request, not habit |
| Work history | Reordered into your format, candidate’s wording kept | Employers, titles and dates match the original CV |
| Qualifications and certificates | Listed as stated, with any missing date or issuer noted | Anything material is verified before you represent it |
| Skills against the brief | Shown only where the CV supports them; gaps listed | Gaps are raised with the candidate, not filled in |

Where it fits in the submission
Formatting is the first step. The recruiter then adds their own assessment, salary and notice facts they have verified, and the client email. The recruitment guide shows the full candidate-submission workflow, with the recruiter approving every claim. Guardrails
- A recruiter compares every formatted CV with the original before it is sent. AI drafts can drop a role, merge dates or invent a detail; instructions do not guarantee a complete or accurate profile.
- The candidate’s experience is represented in their own terms. The Skill does not add skills, soften gaps or upgrade job titles, and the recruiter stays responsible for what the client receives.
- Your ATS remains the candidate record. Reading CVs from it or saving formatted profiles back needs a separately agreed, configured and tested integration.
- Start with sample or anonymised CVs. Real candidate CVs belong in your approved ChatGPT workspace, with the access, retention and consent rules your agency and its applicable duties require. See ChatGPT governance.
A CV formatting Skill can be a single Skill for AED 97. Agencies that want formatting, submissions and client follow-up together usually choose a fixed-price package from AED 3,500. See the pricing page.
Common questions
Can ChatGPT reformat a CV into our agency template?
Yes, as a draft. It moves the candidate’s content into your template, removes details your agency does not send to clients and lists anything it could not place. A recruiter checks it against the original.
Will AI add skills or improve the candidate’s CV?
It should not, and the Skill is set up not to. It keeps the candidate’s wording and lists gaps against the brief for the recruiter to raise with the candidate.
Can it remove contact details before we send the CV to a client?
Yes, following your template rules. The recruiter still checks that nothing identifying how to reach the candidate is left in the document.
Does it work with scanned or two-column CVs?
Usually, if the file is readable. Complex layouts can lose or merge lines, so the review notes and the recruiter’s comparison with the original matter most for those.
